About Me

"The ability to love, to invest in life, to create and fulfill our dreams, is in ongoing dialogue with our capacity to search for emotional truths, to tolerate pain, and to mourn.  While our journeys to healing vary, each starts with the decision to search, to open the door, and rather than turn away from the past, to walk toward it." (Galit Atlas)  ~

I work with teens (16+) and adults, one-on-one, online or over the phone, to provide psychodynamic psychotherapy (talk therapy) in a safe, caring, confidential, and non-judgmental space.

Through therapy, clients explore feelings, thoughts, desires, fears and behaviours so they can better understand themselves, the deeper causes of current challenges, as well as the aspects of their lives that they would like to improve. Often clients start therapy unsure what the problem is, but are experiencing overall feelings of sadness, emptiness, and/or loneliness. Working collaboratively, I help clients to understand the roots of their symptoms, and how they can shift present day concerns.

I completed my training in psychotherapy after a 26-year career in public education where I supported young adults as a teacher, guidance counsellor, and GSA staff advisor. Those roles sparked a desire to work in a deeper, one-on-one capacity, helping others to address trauma and the origins of social and emotional conflict. My experience has given me a thorough appreciation for the challenges that arise during adolescence. It is also a resource when supporting education workers as I understand the unique workplace pressures that take a toll on mental health.

I am committed to providing care within an anti-oppressive, feminist, 2SLGBTQ+ affirmative, and sex-positive framework. I believe an intersectional lens is fundamental in understanding the many factors that contribute to psychological health and wellbeing.
