I am highly experienced in working with clients who have experienced trauma, relational problems, depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, loss. I work as a relational therapist with a neurobiological, mindfulness, somatic, psychodynamic, structural dissociation, attachment, trauma based approach.
You have taken the first step by reading this.
Through our talking I will work to help you understand your experience.
You will have the opportunity to use a body oriented approach which underlies my understanding that early childhood memory, as well as trauma, is stored in the body. I have extensive experience working as a psychotherapist in hospitals. I work in an empathically attuned way to help you understand your experience. Problems with connection and disconnection are an important part of the work,
I have seen that clients may experience a profound change in their sense of well-being if they feel heard and understood by a psychotherapist. You may start to understand your experience in new ways that feel freeing to you, when you talk with a psychotherapist. You may find a sense of empowerment and hope when talking about relational and other issues with a psychotherapist who cares, listens deeply, does not judge and attunes well. We work to uncover and build on your strengths. Talking and expressing yourself within the safety of a relationship with a psychotherapist may help you to improve your sense of self-worth, your trust in yourself, and your trust in others.
In my somatic (bottom up) approach, I work from theories that assert that we need to connect to our bodies to heal. You will hear me asking about the sensations you have, about your feelings, as well as about your thoughts. I understand structural dissociation, and the theory that clients may have parts that are not yet communicating well with each other. I encourage mindful acceptance of these parts and a compassionate kind approach to them. I agree with the theories that suggest that experience is stored in the body, and that when it is unresolved it can affect relationships, work, school, and parenting in the present. I work with adults of all ages.
I have an MA in Expressive Arts Therapy, Minor in Psychology, from the European Graduate School. I am also a professional visual artist. I am a Full Member of CAPT and a Clinical Mermber of OSRP. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario. You can read more about how I work on my website. www.lianeodzesilver.com
