Finding the right therapist can be difficult. For that reason, I offer an initial 40 minute consult for free. My LGBTQ positive practice is in Mind/Body Focused and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. I pay particular attention to overwhelming thoughts, emotions, and sensations that can be the result of trauma. With my previous massage practice (1989-2014), plus four years training in emotion-oriented body work, my practice incorporates my knowledge of how emotions are expressed and held unconsciously in our bodies.
In June/15 I presented a workshop on Dark Erotic Fantasies and Shame at The Guelph Sexuality Conference and completed their Sex Therapy Intensive course the previous spring. Trained at The Centre for Training in Psychotherapy, my education includes a focus on dissociation as a coping mechanism, sexuality issues, sexual abuse, and the embodied residues of trauma. I am very comfortable talking about any and all aspects of sexuality.
I have 20+ years of personal psychotherapy, I'm a member of The Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy, and I'm registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Mind/body continuity is at the core of my approach to psychotherapy.
